Speaker / Tutor¶
A Speaker / Tutor delivers content during a session. On a typical training engagement, this is the trainer themselves; at a conference, it's the person on stage; in a coaching series, it's the coach.
This role exists at the event and session levels. A Speaker on an event-level membership has access to all sessions of the event; a Speaker on a session-level membership only has access to that session.
What you can see¶
As a Speaker, you can:
- See the event and session pages you are attached to.
- See the session attendees so you know who will be in the room (or on the call).
- See the session content — the briefing, the slides repository, any prior-session recordings.
- See your tasks — what you need to prepare and by when.
Speakers can also typically:
- Upload their slides or other materials as media or attachments to the session.
- Submit drafts of materials for review (where workflow is configured).
Typical tasks¶
Tasks you may see in your dashboard:
| Task | When it's due | What "complete" means |
|---|---|---|
| "Submit slide deck" | N days before session | Upload the file as a session attachment. |
| "Review attendee briefs" | N days before session | View the briefs page. |
| "Confirm room setup" | Day of session | Fill in a short webform. |
| "Submit post-session summary" | N days after session | Upload an attachment of the agreed type. |
| "Watch recording for review" | N days after session | Open the recording media. |
The exact tasks depend on the event type and the customer's task patterns. Your dashboard shows what's open right now.
A typical week¶
- Check your dashboard at the start of the week.
- Work through any actionable tasks — preparation, reviewing materials, confirming logistics.
- Deliver the session(s) you are scheduled for.
- Complete post-session tasks promptly so the workflow can move on.
Uploading content¶
When a task requires you to upload something:
- Open the task; it will link to the page where the upload happens.
- Use the upload button.
- Fill in any metadata the form requests (title, description, visibility).
- Save. The task is automatically marked complete.
For recordings, see the Attachment Recording recipe if your instance has it installed.
Confidentiality¶
By default, content you upload as a Speaker is visible to:
- the event's Managers and Hosts,
- the session's attendees (if visibility allows),
- other Speakers on the same session.
If you need to mark an item as for assignees only, use the
attachment visibility field set to private. The instance
administrator can adjust the defaults.
Federation note¶
If you are a Speaker working with multiple training companies (each running its own FedMS instance), each engagement appears on that client's instance. You see your tasks in the instance for the specific event.
Next steps¶
- Manager — the person who scheduled you.
- Attendee / Delegate — your audience.
- Help and support — if you get stuck.
