Moderator¶
A Moderator facilitates a session. The moderator's job is to hold the room — keep time, manage the Q&A, handle logistics, support the speaker, deal with technical issues.
This role exists at the event and session levels.
What you can see¶
As a Moderator, you can see:
- The session page(s) you are assigned to.
- The session attendees so you know the room.
- The session content — briefings, slides, agenda.
- Your tasks — preparation, on-the-day responsibilities, and post-session wrap-up.
A Moderator typically has slightly broader visibility than a Speaker because their job is to keep the operational picture in view.
Typical tasks¶
| Task | When | What "complete" means |
|---|---|---|
| "Review agenda" | Days before | View the agenda page. |
| "Confirm AV setup" | Day before | Submit a short webform. |
| "Send the joining message" | Hours before | Send the prepared message; mark the task complete. |
| "Run the session" | At session time | Manually marked complete after delivery. |
| "Submit moderator's notes" | After | Upload an attachment. |
A typical session day¶
Before the session:
- Re-read the agenda.
- Check that the speaker has uploaded their slides.
- Verify the AV / virtual platform setup.
During the session:
- Welcome the attendees.
- Introduce the speaker.
- Manage time, Q&A, and the chat.
- Handle any disruption.
After the session:
- Make sure the recording is captured (if applicable).
- Submit moderator's notes.
- Flag any follow-ups for the Manager.
Tips¶
- Use the session attendees view before the session to learn names.
- Use the content tab to verify nothing is missing.
- Use your tasks view to make sure your post-session responsibilities are not forgotten.
